Difference between reading and glance through

"murid-murid,sila baca  muka surat 50 sekarang"
"Baik Chekgu"
*Alkisah terdapat 2 orang budak bernama AT dan Zuki
AT : Weh muka surat 50 lah.
Zuki : ha'ah.
*Kedua-dua murid yang hansem itu mula membaca*
1 minit kemudian
AT: Siap.
Zuki: Laju nya hang baca.
*AT terasa amat bongkak dan takabur*
Zuki : Cuba hang cerita balik apa yang hang baca tadi.
AT : erm..

Actually,reading and glancing through both has its pro and con.Reading takes more time than glancing through. This is because our mind has to go through a series of intense data processing that include reading, memorizing, contradicting/critic, and emotion wheres for glancing through, it requires low reading level just enough to find out the main objective of the sentence.


In fact, I am sure that some of you skip the above paragraph because it's too long. Right? =p

For me, I learn about it the hard way, (Because I am to stubborn to listen to other people's advise)

I often do the glancing through. It is handy as it is fast. But I soon realized that it is hard for me to recalled back what I glance through.
 It's a different case with reading. When I took time to read, I can recalled the information, even days after I read it.This is because, when we read, our mind assigned graphic and emotional memory to anything we read. Research shows that graphic and emotional really boost the memory. For example;-

21. If we just see it as the number 21, we will soon forget it. But when we see it as captain hook fighting with Peter Pan, it is impossible for us to forget

and

You woulde be more likely to remember a sad story than pure fact.

Not all reading material require high level of reading. For examples, the newspaper has simple sentence so that it's viewer can easily glance through the article.

In sum, Both the skill are important. Sometimes you glance through, Sometimes you read. But make sure you use both skill to read good thing ya! =p
